What's the Military's Delayed Entry Program (DEP)?

When I was in the DEP I went to MEPS to do my stuff and then came home. I was in for several months because I went in with a guaranteed job and had to wait for my position to open up in the school. You DEP time will serve as part of your enlistment time, just so you know. I didn't have to call in or check in with my recruiter.
