Can i return a pair of shoes with no box?

I bought a pair of shoes from Journeys (store in the mall) but i disposed of the box...the shoes are still brand new never worn...also i have another puma box in my closet that looks exactly the same but different size and bar code ..should i just return them in that box..i dont think it matters but what do you guys think?thanks.
