Cable modem problems?

Live in an apartment for 2 yrs and everything fine till about 2 months ago. Motorola surfboard modem will start blinking send and recieve LEDs and will lose connection. I'll have to goto my TV connection and jiggle the the coax connection at the wall until my channel 3 stops blinking and comes in clear and then I'll get a modem connection again. I'll lose connection about 5 min. later and channel 3 is blinking and I have to jiggle the connection again until it comes in clear and my modem will be fine again, for about another 5 min. Since this only started happening recently is this the cable companys fault or did something happen at the apartments or to my modem?
